APe Action continues their rescue efforts by rescuing dogs not only from shelters but also
found running in thestreets that have been abandoned by their owners and need a safe
place to recuperate until forever home is found.

Ape Action's emphasis is to help and support the efforts of  other rescuers to raise the funds
for medical care for these abandoned, unwanted, and homeless pets.

Please, before you ask us to take in a dog please consider the following
!

  • We run solely on donations.
  • We do not have a facility. We rely on Foster homes and boarding facilities.

If you wish to relinquish a dog to us be prepared to foster until a forever home is found or give a
donation of at least $800.00 -1000.00 to help cover the costs of boarding.

  • We like most rescues, do not have the funds to save every dog.

Just some of the costs for one dog for one month :

  • Boarding $500 for 1 month
  • Flea meds $18-
  • Food $25-
  • Bath/Groom $35- 45

URGENT:
Ruben needs to get the care that he DESERVES NOW!

Ruben is fear aggressive. It takes time for him trust to people. He has accepted
several people into his life, but Reuben's initial reaction to people whom he meets
for the first time, is to back up, while barking.Ruben needs someone with time
and dog experience, who will spend 24/7 with him, helping him get over his fear
aggression. Ruben needs to be in a home with an experienced dog person who
is committed to helping him get over his issues. Someone who will be committed
to him 24/7 and give him personal training and attention

We need a foster that has experience with fear aggressive dogs

Kate is 4 years old and was found as a stray. Possibly a white shepherd mix?
Approximately 50 lbs. Kate is extreemly traumatized by her previous life and
needs a caring, calm home to call her own. Kate loves all dogs and needs to
be with other dogs. She would be best in a home w/a big yard in a rural area,
she's not a city dog, but can get used to it with parents that will take the time
to work with her. She is very sweet and adorable and doesn't have a mean
bone in her body, she is just not used to the ways of the world and is
overwhelmed by most of it. If you would like to have this sweet little girl
as your own, please contact
adoptions@apeaction.org

Meet Oliver and Phebe! (MUST BE ADOPTED TOGETHER, NO EXCEPTIONS)

He's a 4 year old, 17 lb Shih Tzu, possibly mixed w/a Lasa? He is super friendly, loves everyone and anyone, is obedience trained, update on all shots and neutered. He gets along with all dogs and loves to play, he would be best in a home w/a female dog as he tends to mark in his current home (he's battling for 2nd position in the pack in his home w/two large male dogs, he's never going to win, but he doesn't know that).

He loves to play with the two large female dogs when he's not busy bossing around the males. We want to place Oliver into a home that has another dog, preferably female, that loves to play. He is currently spoiled that he has a stay at home mom and a houseful of playmates. If interested in adopting Oliver, please download the adoption application at the bottom of the page and submit to adoptions@apeaction.org

Phebe and Oliver are best friends that love eachother and would be sad if they did not get adopted together. They keep eachother busy. Phebe is a sweet and loving dog. She is a little scared of new situations and places but Oliver keeps her feeling secure. Phebe does not  like people putting their face close to her face and somehow feels treatened buy this.  other than that Phebe loves belly rubs and affection.

ANIMAL RESCUE GOALS:

One of APe Action's goals is to implement a Spay and Neuter Program. This will reduce the number of innocent animals killed each year as well as prevent them from entering the shelter system.

The current practice of impounding and euthanizing animals is    neither ethical nor humane. The estimated $173 it costs tax payers to catch, house and then kill each animal brought into the shelter system could be better spent on Spay and Neuter that can be done for less than $100 an animal.

Success Stories!

Hurray for Kokomo and Kobe

This brother and sister pair were saved from certain death at the shelter in urgent need of eye surgery to save their site. After receiving donations for their medical care we were able to care for and train them while they awaited their forever home. They were adopted together into a loving family that is excited about their new additions!

Thanks to those that donated to their medical needs and to the Catello family for opening up their home to these wonderful dogs!

Volunteers needed

We are always in need of volunteers. If you are interested in being a adoption coordinators overseeing volunteers please contac tus. We also need people to do  house checks, transports volunteers to drive pets to and form vet visits and adoptions events.
For adoptions, volunteers are needed to transport and sit with the dog at the adoption, and must commit to two weekends a month for 3-4 hours.

800,000 pets enter California Shelters each year

50% or 400,000 of these pets are killed each year in our state

Taxpayers spend in upwards of 250 Million each year
to euthanize these unwanted pets

It costs approximately $100 to spay or neuter a pet
you do the math!!!
